Cold Filter Plugging Point Apparatus for Distillate Fuels
This equipment determines the low temperature flow characteristics of automotive diesel fuels and gas oils, including samples with flow improving additives, by measuring the temperature at which the sample ceases to flow through a wire mesh filter under standard test conditions.
Complete System Components
The complete cold filter plugging point testing system consists of three main components: the Cold Filter Plugging Point Apparatus, Vacuum System, and Cooling Bath. Each component is available separately to accommodate different laboratory configurations and testing requirements.
Cold Filter Plugging Point Apparatus
The apparatus includes a borosilicate glass test jar with graduation, brass jacket with plastic support ring, plastic stopper, plastic insulating ring and spacer, pipette, and brass filter unit with stainless steel fine wire mesh screen.
Vacuum System
Connects to the Cold Filter Plugging Point Apparatus to draw sample through the filter screen. The system consists of a U-tube Manometer (without mercury), three-way stopcock, air vent tube, cork stopper with elbows, and large glass bottle. Vacuum pump is not included.
Cooling Bath Options
Two cooling bath configurations are available to suit different operational preferences:
Mechanically Refrigerated Bath: Utilizes a cascade hermetic cooling system to attain temperatures as low as –90°F (–68°C). The apparatus inserts into the composition top plate of the bath. Features insulated stainless steel tank and polished stainless steel cabinet.
Dry-Ice Model: Features insulated copper interior and steel exterior with corrosion resistant polyurethane enamel finish. The composition top plate suspends the apparatus in the freezing mixture at the required depth. Handles on exterior permit easy emptying of freezing mixture. Supplied with thermometer holder.
