FilterMate Portable Exhausters
The FilterMate Portable Exhauster is a compact accessory designed for use with Protector XVS Ventilation Stations, Protector Demonstration Hoods, and Protector Work Stations. This portable exhauster employs HEPA filters, carbon filters, or a combination of both to remove hazardous powders, particulates, or vapors from the exhaust air stream, returning filtered air safely to the laboratory environment without the need for external ducting.
Construction and Design
Each FilterMate features a compact, corrosion-resistant housing constructed from powder-coated steel with rubber feet for stable placement. The design incorporates an inherently safe negative pressure plenum surrounding the positive pressure impeller, ensuring that any leak results in unfiltered air being captured and refiltered. The variable-speed, non-sparking motorized impeller operates quietly, with oversized HEPA filters, efficient impellers, and perforated exhaust covers working together to provide lower system exhaust velocity and reduced noise pressure levels.

Filtration Capabilities
FilterMate units are sized for compatibility with 2', 3', and 4' wide enclosures, with only one FilterMate required per unit. Multiple FilterMates may be used for larger 5', 6', and 8' wide enclosures. The system efficiently filters up to 250 CFM for HEPA or carbon filtration alone, and up to 200 CFM for combination HEPA/carbon filtration, providing face velocities of 60-100 fpm depending on enclosure model.
Key Features
- Front-mounted rocker switch for blower power control
- Rear-mounted auxiliary electrical outlet for airflow monitors or user-supplied accessories
- True bag-in/bag-out filter disposal system on HEPA models for safe filter removal and replacement without detaching hose
- Easy HEPA filter access via removable exhaust cover for field leak testing by certified technicians
- Variable-speed control for adjustable airflow
- 8 feet of 5" ID flexible gray polypropylene hose included with two clamps
- ETL listed (115 volt models)
Model Configurations
HEPA Filtration Models (3970000, 3970020): Include 99.99% efficient HEPA filter for particulates 0.3 micron in size with room exhaust configuration.
Carbon Filtration Models (3970001, 3970021): Designed for use with one carbon filter (sold separately) for organic vapors, formaldehyde, or ammonia applications.
HEPA with Thimble Connection (3970002, 3970022): Include HEPA filter and 6.06" ID thimble connection for exhausting to outside via existing house exhaust system.
HEPA/Carbon Combination Models (3970003, 3970023): Include HEPA filter and accommodate one carbon filter (sold separately) for combined particulate and vapor removal, providing 200 CFM at 60-100 fpm.
Dual Carbon Models (3970004, 3970024): Designed for two carbon filters (sold separately) for enhanced vapor filtration capacity.
Standard Equipment
All 115 volt models include a 6.5' IEC three-wire electrical cord with plug. All 230 volt models include a 9' IEC three-wire electrical cord; an electrical plug is required. Each unit includes a 4.88" OD Upper Transition Adapter for connection to the top of compatible enclosures. Models 3970004 and 3970024 include a 4.88" OD Lower Transition Adapter instead.
Compliance and Standards
- UL 61010-1
