Protector Work Stations
Protector Work Stations deliver specialized protection for pathology and histotechnology applications. These enclosures utilize patented containment-enhancing features and face velocities ranging from 60 to 100 fpm to eliminate solvent vapors associated with gross sectioning, trimming, coverslipping, and staining procedures.
Available Configurations
Two configurations are available to meet different facility requirements. Models designed for connection to remote blowers or house exhaust systems provide protection from a broad range of chemicals, recommended when chemical concentrations are high, unknown, or unpredictable. These models may alternatively connect to the FilterMate Portable Exhauster for ductless operation. Models with built-in blowers accommodate two large carbon filters—Organic, Formaldehyde, and Ammonia—used in any combination to keep low concentrations of these chemicals below OSHA-recommended time-weighted average levels while returning clean air to the laboratory.
Construction Features
- Powder-coated aluminum frame and steel rear plenum for durability and chemical resistance
- 1/4" thick tempered safety glass front sash and sides provide fire, scratch, and chemical resistance
- Type 304 stainless steel rear baffle with zones of perforations promotes horizontal laminar airflow
- Baffle pivots down and is easily removable for cleaning
- 8" high sash opening limits exhaust demand and conserves tempered room air
- Ergonomic 20° angled hinged sash with wiping seals and spring-loaded latch
- Sash pivots upward and locks to 19.0" height for loading and cleaning
Airflow and Containment Technology
- Clean-Sweep air foil allows air to sweep the work surface for maximum containment
- Upper dilution air supply introduces room air at the top of the sash to dilute contaminants
- Upper containment sash foil bleeds air into the enclosure to direct contaminants away from operator's breathing zone
- Side-entry air foils sweep across interior glass surfaces to enhance containment
- Performance tested to modified ASHRAE 110-1995
