Protector Work Stations for Pathology and Histology Applications
Protector Work Stations are purpose-built enclosures for pathologists and histotechnologists performing gross sectioning, trimming, coverslipping, and staining procedures. These specialized workstations utilize patented containment-enhancing features and face velocities from 60 to 100 fpm to effectively remove solvent vapors from the laboratory environment.
Available Configurations
Two configurations are offered to match application requirements and facility infrastructure. Models designed for connection to remote blowers or house exhaust systems provide protection from a broad range of chemicals and are recommended when chemical concentrations are high, unknown, or unpredictable. Alternatively, models with built-in blowers accommodate two large carbon filters—Organic, Formaldehyde, or Ammonia—used in any combination to keep low concentrations of these chemicals below OSHA-recommended time-weighted average levels while returning clean air to the laboratory.
Models may also connect to the FilterMate Portable Exhauster in lieu of outside ducting, with filtered air returned to the laboratory. Carbon Filters and FilterMate Portable Exhauster are sold separately.

Construction and Materials
- Powder-coated aluminum frame and steel rear plenum
- 1/4" thick tempered safety glass front sash and sides provide fire, scratch, and chemical resistance
- Ergonomic 20° angled hinged sash with wiping seals and spring-loaded latch
- Sash pivots upward and locks to 19.0" height for loading and cleaning
- Glare-free fluorescent lighting
- Front-mounted light and blower switches
Built-In Blower Models
Models 3930000 and 3930020 feature:
- Built-in dynamically-balanced motorized impeller
- Speed control for certified technician validation and adjustment
- Baffle with two release knobs that pivots down for filter access
- Quiet operation: 57-59 dBA at 60 fpm, 62-64 dBA at 80 fpm, 69-71 dBA at 100 fpm

Ducted Models
Models 3930001 and 3930021 feature:
- 2" x 10" rectangular exhaust openings on top and bottom
- Two utility ports with iris openings and plugs
- Static pressure loss from 0.06" to 0.16" depending on face velocity
