Protector Work Stations
Protector Work Stations deliver targeted protection for pathologists and histotechnologists working with solvent vapors associated with gross sectioning, trimming, coverslipping, and staining procedures. These specialized enclosures utilize patented containment-enhancing features and face velocities from 60 to 100 fpm to effectively remove chemical vapors from the laboratory environment.
Configuration Options
Two distinct configurations address different facility requirements. Models equipped with built-in blowers accommodate two large carbon filters—Organic, Formaldehyde, and Ammonia—in any combination, keeping low concentrations of these chemicals below OSHA-recommended time-weighted average levels while returning filtered air to the laboratory. Alternatively, models designed for connection to remote blowers or house exhaust systems provide protection from a broader range of chemicals, recommended when concentrations are high, unknown, or unpredictable. These models may also connect to FilterMate Portable Exhausters for filtered air return without outside ducting.

Patented Containment Technology
- Clean-Sweep air foil sweeps the work surface for maximum containment with airflow openings creating a constant barrier of clean air protection
- Upper containment sash foil directs contaminants away from operator breathing zones
- Upper dilution air supply introduces room air at the top of the sash to dilute upper chamber contaminants and bathe the sash back with clean air
- Type 304 stainless steel rear baffle with zone perforations promotes horizontal laminar airflow, pivots down and removes easily for cleaning
- Side-entry air foils sweep across interior glass surfaces to enhance containment
Built-In Blower Models Features
- Dynamically-balanced motorized impeller for quiet operation
- Speed control for certified technician validation and adjustment
- Baffle with two release knobs pivoting down for filter access
- Requires two carbon filters (sold separately)
Ducted Models Features
- 2" x 10" rectangular exhaust openings on top and bottom
- Two utility ports with iris openings and plugs
- Requires remote blower, house exhaust, or FilterMate Portable Exhauster (sold separately)
- Requires exhaust transition adapters and ductwork (sold separately)
Standard Equipment
- Powder-coated aluminum frame and steel rear plenum
- 1/4" thick tempered safety glass front sash and sides offering fire, scratch, and chemical resistance
- 8" high sash opening limiting exhaust demand and conserving tempered room air
- Ergonomic 20° angled and hinged sash with wiping seals and spring-loaded latch locking to 19.0" height
- Fluorescent lighting with front-mounted light and blower switches
- Rear-mounted electrical receptacle activated by blower switch
- Performance tested to modified ASHRAE 110-1995
