Basic Laboratory Hoods for Light Duty Applications

Basic 47 and 70 Laboratory Hoods deliver economical ventilation solutions for modular laboratories, classrooms, and light duty applications requiring safe fume containment. These compact hoods are constructed of durable powder-coated steel and feature reduced overall height and depth to accommodate tight installations, low ceilings, and narrow aisles.

Key Design Features

Lighting and Electrical Systems

Vapor-proof models include pre-wired 100-watt vapor-proof LED lighting with integrated light and blower switches. All incandescent lighting and switches connect to the hood's factory-wired junction box. Explosion-proof configurations feature explosion-proof 100-watt light fixtures requiring on-site installation, with bulb not included. These models ship without switches and wiring to comply with varying local code requirements.

Interior Configuration

• Vertical-rising 3/16" thick tempered safety glass sash with powder-coated steel handle
• Durable powder-coated 16 gauge steel liner resists chemical degradation
• Two-piece adjustable baffle optimizes airflow
• Curved air foil directs airflow to minimize turbulence and ensure containment; lifts off for cleaning
• Top of liner factory-prepared for two customer-supplied apparatus rods
• Right interior wall factory-prepared for optional cupsink and turret
• By-pass airflow design

Service Panel and Accessibility

The right side fixture panel arrives factory-prepared to accommodate up to three color-coded service fixtures, one duplex electrical receptacle, and an airflow monitor. The removable front panel provides convenient access to blower and electrical connections.

Ventilation Options

Versatile blower modules mount on top of the hood liner or in remote locations. Hoods are also available without blower for custom ventilation configurations. Models with blower module include belt-driven blowers with adjustable sheave, powder-coated steel base and housing, and corrosion-resistant coated steel impeller.

Certifications and Standards

Heights of switches, electrical receptacles and service fixtures meet ADA requirements.

Unassembled Models for Easy Transport

Unassembled configurations fit into cartons less than one half the assembled size, providing economical shipping and storage advantages. The compact containers transport readily to remote locations. Assembly is simple and fast. Note that unassembled models are not pre-wired.
