Basic Laboratory Hoods for Light Duty Applications

Basic 47 and 70 Laboratory Hoods provide economical, safe ventilation for modular laboratories, classrooms, and light duty applications. Constructed from durable powder-coated steel, these hoods feature compact dimensions with smaller overall height and depth than traditional hoods, making them ideal for installations with low ceilings or narrow aisles.

Design and Construction

The hoods feature glacier white powder-coated 16 gauge steel construction for both exterior and interior surfaces, providing chemical resistance and an attractive appearance. A vertical-rising tempered safety glass sash (3/16" thick) with powder-coated steel handle protects operators while ensuring excellent visibility. The curved air foil directs airflow into the hood to minimize turbulence and ensure fume containment, and lifts off for easy cleaning.

Electrical and Lighting Options

Vapor-Proof Models

Vapor-proof models include pre-wired 100-watt vapor-proof LED light with light and blower switches. Incandescent lighting and switches are factory-wired to the hood's junction box for convenient installation.

Explosion-Proof Models

Explosion-proof models include an explosion-proof 100-watt light fixture (bulb not included, requires installation). These models are furnished without switches and wiring as these must conform to varying local codes.

Blower and Ventilation

Hoods are available with blower module or configured for use with remote blower. The powder-coated steel exhaust connection measures 10.3" OD.

Blower Module Features (When Included)

• Mounts on top of hood liner or in remote location

Fixture and Service Panel

The right side fixture panel is factory-prepared for up to three color-coded service fixtures, one duplex electrical receptacle, and an airflow monitor (fixtures, receptacle, and monitor not included). The removable front panel provides access to blower and electrical connections. Heights of switches, electrical receptacles, and service fixtures meet requirements of ADA.

Assembly Options

Hoods are available fully assembled or unassembled. Unassembled models ship in compact cartons less than one half the assembled size, providing more economical shipping and storage with easier transport to remote locations. Assembly is simple and fast. Note: Unassembled models are not pre-wired.

Certifications and Compliance

Basic Laboratory Hoods are ETL-listed and carry the ETL mark signifying certification to UL 61010-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 61010.1. Hoods are performance tested to ASHRAE 110.
