Design and Construction
The AP60V features a vertical design optimized for space efficiency and visibility. The cabinet is constructed with white epoxy-coated steel filtration unit with blue enclosure and clear sides and top panels, providing 360-degree visibility for ambient illumination and unobstructed viewing of chamber contents.
Key Construction Elements
- Chemical resistant epoxy-coated steel frame for mechanical strength
- Clear back and side panels for complete visibility
- Low-profile, completely portable design with no ductwork required
- Compact size for easy positioning on shallow countertops or counters with overhanging wall cabinets
- Modular design permits multiple configurations
- AC blower
- Main On/Off rocker switch for unit power control
Multiplex Filtration System
The Purair FUMEBOX utilizes innovative filtration technology with the exclusive Multiplex Filtration System consisting of a pre-filter, main activated carbon or HEPA/ULPA filter, and safety activated carbon or HEPA/ULPA filter. This system permits customized combinations of filter media for chemical and physical adsorption specific to each application.
Filtration Components
- Electrostatic Pre-Filter: Accessible from inside the chamber, 91% effective down to 1-3 microns; may be replaced while unit is in operation
- Primary Filter: (1) activated carbon main filter or HEPA/ULPA filter
- HEPA/ULPA Filter (Optional): Uses micro-glass fiber media designed to capture fine particles and biologicals; HEPA efficiency 99.97% at 0.3 microns, ULPA efficiency 99.999% at 0.12 microns

Airflow Operation
The AP60V maintains a constant face velocity of 100 fpm in compliance with USA and international standards. Contaminated air is pulled through the Multiplex filtration system and clean air is returned to the room. Main filters are easy to replace and install, with filter clamps that seal tightly against the filter gasket to prevent filter bypass and maintain filter integrity.
Ductless Technology Advantages
- Environmental Benefits: Isolates and traps chemical vapors to prevent ecological impact through environmental release
- Versatile: Carbon filters available in more than 14 configurations for vapors of organic solvents, acids, mercury and formaldehyde; HEPA/ULPA filters can be added
- Easy to Install: Self-contained with no outside venting required; portable units may be moved with minimal downtime and without filter changes
- Energy Efficient: Filtered air returns to room, eliminating facility HVAC demands for make-up air
- Cost Effective: Eliminates facility ductwork, HVAC and construction costs
- Safe to Use: Cabinet airflow and face velocity protect users from incidental exposures to fumes
