Purair HLF Series Horizontal Laminar Flow Cabinets

The Purair HLF Series delivers horizontal laminar airflow to protect equipment and work zone contents from particulate contamination. Designed for non-hazardous applications requiring sterile work environments, these cabinets feature Multiplex ULPA Filtration technology that creates clean work conditions across a wide range of laboratory and industrial applications. Available in six widths with standard or stainless steel interior configurations.

Horizontal Airflow Characteristics

In horizontal flow cabinets, the airflow does not directly impinge on the work surface but rather is smoothly drawn across it, creating less turbulence. Room air enters from the top of the cabinet through a disposable pre-filter that traps larger particles and increases filter life. Air is forced evenly across the ULPA filter in a stream of clean, uniform air within the work zone, diluting and flushing airborne contaminants from the interior. The purified air travels across the work zone in a horizontal, unidirectional stream and exits the work zone across the entire open cabinet front. Airflow exits directly towards the user. Large or tall equipment in a horizontal flow cabinet can interrupt airflow more than in a vertical flow cabinet, which may create more turbulence and possible "dead" spots where airflow is lower.

Filtration Technology

All models use ULPA filters with 99.999% efficiency at particle sizes between 0.1 to 0.3 μm. Air cleanliness meets and exceeds ISO Class 4. The main filter gasket evenly seals the filter face to prevent bypass air leakage through pour-in-place silicone gasket that outperforms traditional style stick-on "dove-tail" gasketing. Disposable polyester fiber pre-filters provide 85% arrestance.

Construction Options

Standard models feature powder coated interior with stainless steel work surface and tempered glass side windows. Stainless steel interior models (-SS) available for enhanced chemical resistance and durability. White epoxy coated steel frame exterior. All cabinet components are cleanroom compatible.

Control Panel

Standard control panel includes On/Off switch for fan, lighting, GFCI outlets, and Minihelic ULPA pressure gauge to measure filter condition. Optional UV control panel adds UV lamp key switch for ultraviolet sterilization between operating periods.

Sterile Compounding Compliance

When used according to best practices, the Purair LF Series cabinet encourages compliance with criteria set forth by USP 797 for sterile preparation in pharmaceutical compounding of nonhazardous agents. These include injectables, IV admixtures, pastes and ointments and irrigating solutions which are protected by filtered air blown over the work surface in a laminar flow.

Installation and Operation

Cabinets are designed for desktop use or installation on the optional mobile base stand. Each cabinet is factory tested for safety and performance in accordance with international standards. Units are shipped fully assembled—no installation is required; just plug them in and use them. The high capacity air handling system delivers flow velocity of 0.4 m/s (80 fpm). Energy efficient external rotor blower design reduces operating costs.
