Protector Work Stations for Pathology and Histology Applications
Protector Work Stations deliver specialized containment solutions for pathologists and histotechnologists working with solvent vapors during gross sectioning, trimming, coverslipping, and staining procedures. These professional-grade enclosures utilize patented containment features and adjustable face velocities from 60 to 100 fpm to remove chemical vapors from the laboratory environment.
Two Available Configurations
Models designed for remote blower or house exhaust connection provide protection against a broad range of chemicals, particularly recommended when chemical concentrations are high, unknown, or unpredictable. These units may alternatively connect to the FilterMate Portable Exhauster for carbon-filtered air return to the laboratory without external ducting.
Self-contained models with built-in blower accommodate two large carbon filters—available in Organic, Formaldehyde, and Ammonia types in any combination. These filters maintain low chemical concentrations below OSHA-recommended time-weighted average (TWA) levels while returning clean air to the laboratory. Carbon Filters sold separately.

- Patented Type 304 stainless steel rear baffle with zone perforations promotes horizontal laminar airflow
- Pivoting, removable baffle for easy cleaning and filter access (built-in blower models)
- 8" high sash opening limits exhaust demand and conserves tempered room air
Construction and Materials
- Powder-coated aluminum frame and steel rear plenum for durability and chemical resistance
- 1/4" thick tempered safety glass front sash and sides provide fire, scratch, and chemical resistance
- Ergonomic 20° angled hinged sash with spring-loaded latch and wiping seals
- Sash pivots upward and locks to 19.0" height for loading and cleaning
- Front-mounted light and blower switches
- Glare-free fluorescent lighting
- Rear-mounted electrical receptacle activated by blower switch
