Sorvall JB-4

The Sorvall JB-4 ultra-microtome is designed to produce thin sections for light microscopy from samples embedded in either plastic or paraffin. Specially designed to smoothly and steadily section hard plastic blocks. Can be set to cut plastic blocks as large as 19 x 19mm and sections with thicknesses from 0.25um to 10um with the turn of a dial. Precision rotary microtomes that utilize a unique lead-screw advance system and glass knives to smoothly, steadily and consistently cut plastic embedments to the exact thickness that you select. This is the non-motorized manual model for plastic and paraffin sectioning. Includes: Precision stage with coarse advance micrometer calibrated in 10 micrometer increments and click stops for forward advance of stage. (Advance may be disengaged for block trimming.) Adjustable knob for controlling lateral movement. Advance reset indicator. Lockable handwheel. Stainless-steel deck. Metal base. Sturdy plastic cover.
