This Fisher 480 bacterial colony counter automatically counts 9999 colonies in 0.5 second. Just place a covered 100mm petri dish, with or without lid, in the counter - in 0.5 second, colony count appears on integral 4-digit display. Counter tallies plaques, surface and sub-surface bacterial colonies in petri dishes and membrane filters. Counter is self calibrating - eliminates any requirement for readjustment. Bottom illumination system is ideal for counting opaque colonies on semi-transparent media for pharmaceuticals, dairy products, some foods and pure cultures. Top reflected light is for counting opaque colonies on opaque media. Switch back and forth from top to bottom as needed. Has variable threshold. Displays dish on a separate monitor, which is not included.
